CDM Co-Ordinating
The CDM regulations 2007 apply to ALL construction work in Great Britain and its territorial sea, and apply to both employers and the self employed without distinction. The only time that The CDM regulations 2007 DO NOT apply are if you are a domestic client.
Domestic clients are people who have work done on their own home or the home of a family member, that does not relate to a trade or business, whether for profit or not. If the work is in connection with the furtherance of a business attached to the domestic premises, such as a shop, the client is NOT a domestic client and the regulations DO apply.
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2007 place a legal duty on Clients to appoint a CDM Co-ordinator on all notifyable projects.
A project becomes notifyable if:
- The work lasts more than 30 working days (generally 6 weeks)
- Or the work involves more than 500 person days (i.e.50 people working for ten days)
