Health and Safety

Under the law employers are responsible for the management of health and safety.

The employer has a duty to protect the health, safety and welfare of all their employees, together with other people who might be affected by their business. An employer must do whatever is reasonably practicable to achieve this.

This means ensuring that people are protected from anything that may cause harm, effectively controlling the risks to injury or health that could arise in or around the workplace.

An employer has duties under health and safety law to carry out risk assessments. Risk assessments should be carried out addressing all risks that might cause harm in the workplace.
